The Salty Dog behind the Art

Some you are wondering why am I putting something like this up in this gallery. I am not like most other artists and Roleplayers on here. This collage contains actual photos of me, the person behind the art, in uniform and the ring in the collage is my Navy Vet ring with the rating I had while in the service. The right part the collage is one of my favorite duty stations--Point Mugu California. I took the photo at an airshow in 1990. The little boy at the bottom is my son on the shoulders of my husband. He grew up and joined the army. He too is a veteran and is now has his pilot's licence. The F-14 is what got me interested in the Navy. That is why I have included her in my collage. Bottom right is me today, the old anally retentive Salty Dog. I am a ten year Navy Veteran that served from 1986-1996. I come from a family of veterans. My husband is a veteran and so was his father. I am also not in the same generation as most living aircraft artists.

As such I am not going to meet certain Roleplay expectations. There are things I don’t digest and I am not going to have the level of emotional response a younger roleplayer will have. Boot camp and really crazy working hours around noisy aircraft pretty much ruined that part of me. I also cannot spend hours in front the computer like a young person can role playing. Catch me to role play over chat isn't going to be easy if not next to impossible. Those days for going to be less and less as time goes on. Consequently I have changed gears from roleplaying to collaborative story writing. That doesn't require hours in front of the computer. That the why behind the deletion of the RP icon on my profile. People that want role play please don't come a knocking. Collab writing only.

My background is why I enjoy military themed stories. Being in the older generation there are just not going to be things that will appeal to me. I never heard of furry fandom, anthro or any of that stuff when I was in the Navy. It was just cartoon airplanes or fantasy airplanes. Cartoon airplanes were sometimes found in the Navy All Hands Magazine. I even did a cartoon airplane for the Point Mugu newspaper.

I am not as deep into my art as most of the fans on here. That is why some of my submissions may talk about art styles.

My creations and literature will be heavily influenced by my Navy past as well as my upbringing. Some artists I will be able to collaborate with, others I won’t depending on their style. The artists that tend more toward the realistic art styles will be easier for me to do collabs with. Also some of my work will have a shameless Christian message. 8. Posting unwelcome critiques.

9. Getting your shorts in a spindle about wanting tech specs on character design. My art is what it is. So I don't do question and answer on why something is the way it is. If I share specifics, they will be found in the stories themselves. For some design is their bread and butter. I keep my design secrets close to my vest. Please respect my wishes.

10. Pop posting images other than 50 x 50 emotes.--Not everyone has the same tastes and what you pop post may be offensive to another user that follows this gallery.

11. Posting advertisements/spam--trying to sell stuff or getting me to join your little clique and so forth.

12. Trying to get me to contact someone who has blocked you on your behalf. This is a form of circumventing a block. I won't be a part of it. Please respect the wishes of users that don't want any further contact with you.

13. Filling my feed with offensive depictions of military aircraft and other topics. I won't talk to you about it. I will just block. Please respect my wishes for no contact.
